Well, Dragonball Z is one of my favorite anime. This anime is very popular in Japan and America, though Dragonball Z has finished airing in both America and Canada. I personally think the anime is very nice. It has a good plot to it, a good story line, and the anime style isn't very cheap, like the old Sailor Moon episodes. Dragonball Z is very touching in some ways, but yet it can be very aggressive and violent.

Some of you may think "Why don't you just watch a fight on the street, it's real, and more fun!". Well, yes you can, but the fight on the street has no story. On the other hand, Dragonball Z has a storyline, so the characters are fighting for a good cause. Well, yes, the anime is very predictable. When you know there are about 300 episodes, you know that a good guy is not going to die in the first episode, but then again, you want to know HOW they're going to win, and what happens. Dragonball Z also may seem a bit childish, but in Japan I don't think it's for kids; I've seen subbed episodes, not for kids at all.

I would recommend this Anime to anyone. All ages, from 10-adult. It has a wonderful storyline with action in every corner. To this anime there are twists and turns, when you watch you won't be able to wait till the next episode. This anime should be one of your first though, if you've been hooked on other anime already, you probably won't like it much. The reason for this is Dragonball Z is not like any other anime. Akira Toriyama (the original creator of the series), had made it very unique from other anime. It has a little romance, but barely if any. The series is mostly about protecting the Earth from evil villains. So for first-time anime watchers, I think this anime is great, but after you get hooked onto another anime, you probably wouldn't like it as much.

So what do I think of the series, overall? I personally love the series, and still do. Even after watching many anime I still love Dragonball Z, because it's unique. The "Super Saiyan" part adds a major twist in the plot for evil villains. It makes the villains prepare more, and gives them a big surprise when the characters' hair turns yellow, and their muscles pump up like basketballs; really catches their attention. The anime is nicely prepared, and beautifully made.

There are still things that could be way better in Dragonball Z. Most of these things show up during the end of the series. One of the problems was too much repetition. The villains always come back for the same thing and the same thing happens; after the "Frieza" saga there was way too much of this. Goku dies again, and he trains again, which gets a bit boring. After the Frieza saga and the "Cell" saga, many people let go of Dragonball Z because of these problems.

The main reason for the repetition is that Toriyama simply ran out of ideas, basically recycling earlier parts of the manga. As this continued, the story slowly became worse. Another problem in Dragonball Z was that Goku was too much of a main character in the series. People were expecting the series to be focused on Gohan or Vegeta, because the prequel to Dragonball Z, Dragonball, already focused on Goku enough. This caused Dragonball fans to lose interest fast because they already knew everything about Goku and what he is capable of doing.
